Austin single-family and condominium sales are climbing again.
A total of 2,313 single-family homes were sold in April, up 6 percent from April 2006, according to the latest Multiple Listing Service report from the Austin Board of Realtors. The average sales price for single-family units also rose 6 percent to $185,000 from last year. But while new home values are rising, they still remain affordable compared with the national average of $212,300.
In the multifamily arena, sales of townhomes and condos inched up 2 percent to 266 units last month as more projects hit the market. The total value of condos and townhomes sold came in at nearly $50 million, a 9 percent increase from a year ago.
The total value of single-family homes also forged ahead to $579 million, up 14 percent from 2006.
